Circular holes - router

As you've prob guessed from title, this question is about cutting out holes using the router!

I've the Bosch 1/4 inch shank router, cutting out on a hardwood plywood takes 3 rotations. Is this right wrong?

The bit is medium sized and doing about 3000rpm.

But tedious amount of time.

3000rpm? are you sure?

Well around the 3 mark on the dial, I assume its 3000 rpm.

So it would be a lot faster than that, the full speed is probably 25,000rpm or more. My small Bosch is 28,000rpm. If the cutter is as small as it looks you should probably be running it faster. Is the cutter single or double flute? Has it a bottom cut?

its got 2 blades, plunge as well. Should I get one go those upcutting bits that look like a drill bit?

You shouldn't need to - they're good for serious excavations as they clear faster, but the main advantage on small work is that they cut a little cleaner. Try using the one you've got at full speed. I assume of course it's sharp.
