All,
The split top roubo bench i am building is going to be able to be taken apart. This will mean that the split-tops will slide on to tenons at the top of the legs. Whilst gluing up the top I stupidly forgot to avoid the surfaces of the boards where the mortices exist. So I now have a thin layer of hardened glue on the faces of the mortice. The tenons still slide in ok, they are nice and tight actually, however I'm concerned that once the top is in place for an extended period that the glue could 'reactivate' meaning I can not take the top off in the future. Would/could this happen or is it set for good?
Removing the set glue from inside the mortices looks like a painful task!
