I was given a couple of logs of this wood a few years ago and told it was strawberry wood.... is it?
If it's not of any particular interest it may end up on a friends firewood pile to make some space in the garage 😅

I have some pear wood that looks very similar, never seen a strawberry bush get big enough to be that wide, it could be strawberry but honestly don't have a clue.

Yes it is known as a strawberry tree - Phil has the correct species shown - I was given some by my friendly tree surgeon to try. From memory it was lovely wood to turn but very prone to crack like most fruit tree woods.

Thanks for the confirmation :) Guess it won't be going on the fire after all!
