What kind of woodworker are you?

Carpenter by force of circumstances (newly married/ no money); joiner ditto (still continuing with three 30-something children availing of "Dad-DIY?"); aspirational cabinet maker, everybody has to have a goal. Even in retirement.

    Chisel Buying Advice

I'm surprised no-one has mentioned "pre-atomic" steel and at least one manufacturer's much-publicised quest for old (think 1800-1900) anchor chain in that context? The (exploited) point was: steel with fewer contaminents, then worked by traditional heavy pounding, created a better edge-holding...

    OSB

Artie, the old hardware yard behind Strandtown Police Station had O.S.B. walls on its shed for more years than I can remember. Wilbur and the gang did NOT paint or treat it in any way and it was still going strong when he sold up and they built those ghastly yuppie flats there.

    Opinions, please

JimJay? I'd also be concerned about the moisture content of his "Scots Pine" and co-opt your propeller comment to wonder out loud how long it would be before your doors resembled Robin Hood's rejects...

Tapered gaps a thing out there? No, didn't think so. And, that splintered edge? Sheesh....This guy needs to wake up and smell the humous.

    Rust Remover--'Jenolite'

Thanks GweithdyDU! As a biologist, aware of avian kidneys being constructed to concentrate urea ( to save carrying water/weight in flight) I can only presume that the (uric) acid concentration in the trough must have been the secret? Citric acid would work the same way, but possibly being...

    The bucket list

Scottish ridges. I've been wanting to add the Aonach Eagach for some time now; that would make my mainland bucket list complete. The 'Inn Pin' would be a whole new ball game....😲

    Electra Beckum HC260 Help

That belt is coming off the smaller cog first. Not the big one. I have the same machine; my bet is on a worn belt.

Can anybody beat this for old equipment

If John Hancock envy is "penile" What's the adjective for heavy iron lust? Forgile? Can't be Castile..... Gets hat, coat, vaults over Wadkin on way out....

Yeah, some is even sensible ( except Jacob!). Welcome aboard from a sodden and gusty Northumberland. Still no swallows, lads.

Lidl's quibble quibble 3 year tool guarantee

I DO have a Lidl multi tool. I abuse it royally; amongst other things, using it to saw through rivets and concrete-like mastic holding B.R. windows in a B.R..carriage (we're renovating it). So far, it is rugged and dependable. It's use allows me to reserve my much more expensive Bosch for...

    Hi from Edinburgh

Funnily enough, we have a member called "Droogs", also from Edinburgh! Wecome aboard. I'm regularly down in Leith where (No1 Child resides) and I have yet to find a good woodyard. Good Luck!

    Removing paint from cement

Careful! Depending on the composition of your wall outer face, a pressure washer may eat holes in soft material! I've got ornamental "Budda's tummy" blockwork and it just cannot be thus hosed.

    feasability

Not sure which board type johnnyb is referring to? I saw unpainted O.S.B. used as barn siding and after 20 years, it was weathered, but unbowed (literally). Facing south admittedly, but still going. It was demolished for housing.
