After much searching i finally found an Emco MH30 to replace my cheap and nasty Chinese Planer/thicknesser. That's right; No pic's, never happened! It's currently situated in my garage while I clean, adjust and repair, but will soon be incorporated into the woodworking shop...

I'd say that totally depends on how you plan to lay out tools and equipment, but with that kind of space, I would probably centralise one or two Festool MFT tables and a proper workbench as well and then it would make the most sense to make a square above them to keep hoses.powercords etc. out...

Is there any graduation on your tailstock quill? If not, it may be to hold a measuring clock to measure travel of the quill?

I think you may want to look at the Festool RAS and ROTEX offerings. The RAS is probably much the same as the angle grinder approach, but the Rotex is efficient, with good dustcollection and also the ability to end with a better finish. I have a 125mm. one and it sure eats away wood at the...

I would like to suggest that in addition to taking Steves advise on this, you buy his bandsaw DVDs! I have watched mine probably 3 times before i owned a bandsaw and now i will be watching it again when i start sorting out my small Inca.
