Any C&C on my platter? :)

looks good to me mate - I agree to an extent about the suddeness of the rim but as you say thats partly caused by the requirement for absolute flatness and is beyond your control what wood is it ? - did that start life as one of the burrs you bought from me ?

CHAINSAW LATHE... what a great idea...

either that video's faked or that chainsaw is incredibly blunt - mine would have pulled itself into the wood and cut the column in half well before the end of the video he'd be better off with a power file or a sander - or for that matter just carving it by hand

£200 budget dust extraction for woodturning workshop

4 or 5 inch drainage piping - you can buy it from builders merchants, or off the 'bay ( or find it on freecycle) - you can also find it in roadside ditches sometimes after works have been done ( or nick it from building sites - but i'm not advocating that ;o) )

    Darwin Awards

and on the false email arround 2 years ago the elephant was in rekajavik, iceland - also with the stick of dynamite how would they know what the motivation was - and the bungee jumper doesnt qualify for an award at all let alone as a runner up because he didnt remove himself from the gene pool

    Forest sell off

because a) temperate forestry doesnt do that much to deal with C02 anyway - what is really important is troppical reaforestation - and b) the woodlands will still exist once they are sold and the govt will still have control over whether they can be cleared - taking out more than 5% of your...

    Forest sell off

I dont have a lot of time for Davey and Nick nick - but in this case i tend to feel that getting as much of the land asset ( including nnrs as well as forestry holding) out of the neglectful hands of govt and into the hands of bodies like the NT, RSPB, wildlife trusts etc , can only be a good...

    Forest sell off

changing the land use would also require planning permsion so isnt that likely - if private investors do buy in it is most likely that they will be interested in the tax shelter advantages and management on the ground wont actually change much.

    Forest sell off

i'm not convinced that its necessarily a bad thing - woodlands in private hands are often more diverse and better managed. (they are actually planning to sell of 33% of the estate - and out of this two thirds (ie 22% of the whole) will be going to community groups and charities - only 1/3 (11%...

ground source heat pumps - could you heat a swimming pool?

what sort of temperature water can you achieve ? I'm shortly going to be looking after a campsite where the showers are currently supplied via solar heating , and one of the common complaints is that they are disapointingly luke warm - just wonderring if a GS or AS heat pump might be a...
