Hi all, I have a Saltley Mill kent pattern axe I believe was made by Thomas Smith pre 1959. I was wondering whether anyone had a catalogue. They were famous for making Snail brand tools.
Hi all, recently picked up a few wooden planes.
One a coffin smoother marked Master has a plane iron with a pharoah logo and warranted Sheffield.
Anyone got any information on the iron manufacturer ?
Yeah that book is on my want list, but a hefty investment for me. Think it might be a christmas wish list item got planemakers 4th edition last year. Shame there is not more known.
Morning all, I picked up a tenon saw in good condition a Zelus No.95, made in Sheffield, Ive had a quick search and found chisels also with the zelus branding but can find no information on the company, anyone shed any light on this ?
Hi all just found my great grandfathers rip saw in a damp cellar Ibbotson and Roebank. Im fine cleaning the plate but how would you clean the handle, still damp, can i go kn with raw linseed oil now or do i have to wait for it to dry, worried aboout it cracking when its drying out
Yes around that time I have a prestanley Acorn No.4
I have given the vice a bit of a clean up feels solid should be a good user for small projects, also looking at making a knockdown stool to use when on holiday.
Yeah thanks for that, actually found that one, unfortunately not listed. Im thinking its mid 30's seem to remember something about the buy british campaign just before stanley bought chapman out.
