    2mm could work for the gaps, but 3mm might offer better weatherproofing. 19mm for the rebates sounds solid, balancing fit and strength. Using timber for stop beads post-installation could be a neat touch.

    Your plan sounds pretty solid to me. As long as you maintain good ventilation around the cabin, you should minimize any potential moisture buildup.

    The 'green' wood was wax sealed when felled. After a couple of yearst the wood was first turned it was sound, but still damp. Now the cracks are starting. It's these cracks I'm trying to stop before the final turning

    Having had a go at this wood turning lark, particularly bowl turning, now and starting to get the hang of it. Most of my wood is still very green. About 2 years or so. On the advice of "Turn a wood bowl" on You tube, I blocking out rough bowls to allow for twice turning. Now the biggest problem...

    I have just turned round the bowl i was trying to turn, even trying to cut a new Tennon for the chuck was a trial but it has worked !!!! What was the Narrow end is now in the chuck and I'm able to gouge the bowl - How Strange ! Sycamore Branch wood is very tough to cut and blunts Chisels like MAD
