    Wanted Festool OF2200/DeWalt DW625 - 240V

Spectric - I have no cast-iron reason. I just don't like the idea of an extra gizmo for just one tool - everything else is 240v. Maybe a wee bit too stuck in my ways!

    Thanks Andy - want 240V.

    SWA cable depth

I tend to use 100mm poo-brown underground sewage pipe as conduit if burying at 600mm. I always leave a length of blue polypropylene 10mm rope rope in the conduit with a couple of metres of extra length in the conduit and leave the ends just under the finished surface, so if I want anything else...

Is the Metabo HC260 any good? Currently dimensioning with bandsaw and handplanes.

In short - I'd be surprised if you were unhappy with it. I bought one s/h 23 years ago (Elektra Beckum HC260) and had no issues until later in life when the chain jumped when lowering (my fault, I should have tightened it periodically) . It took me some time to work out the fix and it was as...

Nothing to see here just an empty packet of Rawlplugs

In my previous rural home, I found a 1901 Harrington & Richardson .410 single shot shot-gun! It's still on my certificate and gets the occasional outing! I clearly recall rawl-tools and remember the bruises I self-inflicted when trying to emulate father when he was sent overseas and mother...

    Finishing oak

So I'm a convert. Until earlier this year, I used Osmo. Now I will only use Rubio Monocoat. Same principle as Osmo but only one coat and it comes in something like 64 shades. Pure is the "natural". Here's a table I may have previously posted.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

@clogs - not hand carved by any stretch. All knocked out on the CNC. Hand-carving would take talent I don't possess! My wife doesn't even let me paint the letters in!

Post a photo of the last thing you made

We went to a wedding recently. The invitation had a link to wedding presents. The Rope & Oak Company wanted £180 for a length of 2" thick oak, with some carving and 10 holes. I think that my version cost less than £30 and I've factored in my time at £38/hr and the machines were amortised some...

    Learning to dovetail

The OP is in Norfolk. I was in a similar position 4 years ago. TIP #1 I went and did a course with Roger Berwick in Shelfhangar to learn dovetailing. It was worth the money. I cut tails first but have tried pins first, too. TIP #2 Derek Cohen from Perth (WA) wrote a post on using blue...

    Upping my sanding game

I had the same predicament about a year ago. I tried both Festool and Mirka tools in friends' workshops and decided on Mirka Deros. I was advised to buy a pad saver (about £16 for a multi-pack). Mirka hooks up to my Festool midi extractor. I only use the 150mm dia Abranets. Have not...

    Thicknesser black marks

Sorry Jeff - I was not for one second suggesting the supplier was the issue. We both buy imported European oak, mines from AC Timber in Ely, I wondered if yours was. I ran an acacia board through mine and still had the black stripes, I'll try cleaning as per above!

    Thicknesser black marks

Are your boards coming from AC in Ely? Coincidentally, I get the same issue on my 5 month old Hammer A3-31. (I'll put something else throug it and report back!)
