    Yandles offers on abrsive discs

What's the Difference Between Sandpaper Grit and Sandpaper Grade? Grit refers to the specific size of the abrasive grain (40, 80, 120 etc.), whereas grade is a broader term that covers a range of grits. For example, medium grade can include grit sizes between 80 and 100.

So am I, I noticed an internal crack that runs vertically through the centre which means the stem will have to be thicker than I would like, if itnhold together I may keep it as a display piece and make another one, which won't be so bad as this one is a big bigger than I had planned, it's more...

I dare say a trip to any woodland would result in finding something suitable 😊 the wood just needs to have been left for long enough, there's a guy I follow on Instagram that does the same with very old fence posts, think he's in USA somewhere or maybe Australia, the wood is a red colour and...

I belive it's Sequoia, it has amazing colour but it's insanely dry and dusty so getting a clean cut requires a razor sharp tool edge, sands very easily too.

    Organisation and workflow

Firstly, EVERYONE suffers with imposter syndrome at some point, if you allow that feeling to take control you will struggle to keep moving forward and improving. I've constantly struggled with being organised and focused, partly due to having a very small space and preferring to make rather than...

Found out today that we will be with the pagan stalls at the Merrist Wood even next weekend so when I went out to the makerspace today an old worn oak branch screamed at me to be cut into lengths and turned into bud vases, so I cut it into 8 pieces of varying lengths, turned a tenon on the end...

    Something new

I don't think so not with the walls being only 9mm thick and I think I want decorative hardware to add to the look of the piece seeing as it will be seen from front and back, it will also allow me to make the first cut then attach the hinges whilst everything is still aligned then make the front...

    Something new

I guess it's technically a segmented turning, the constant changes in grain direction within each ring took some getting used to, fortunately it sanded very easily so blemishes were quickly removed with 120grit, I really want the hinges and latch to be ornamental so looking for something that...

    Something new

I decided to go back to my original idea for this desk tidy so have spent the last few days working on it, using an offcut of the beech worktop I fitted in one of the classrooms I glued up a 150mm square by 280mm (ish) blank using 5minute epoxy once rounded off I turned a recessed tenon and...

Spalted beech - what to make?

Bowls aren't too complicated, last spalted beech I did was very soft in places, it helps to have a good supply of CA, I roughed the outside shape then saturated it all over with CA and left it overnight and passed over it with a few finishing cuts, turned it round into the chuck and did the same...

    Lets see your wood

Rough turning allows the wood to dry quickly, using the wet shaving helps to stop it drying too quickly, if you used dry shavings they would draw out the moisture rapidly and increase the chances of cracks, cutting into rounds like you have and sealing should reduce the cracking but as it's...
