Fire safety/Fire extinguishers - what to buy etc

Interesting to hear they want to discontinue foam. Must be some unique make to be a chemicall threat. Foam extinguishment is simply (soap-like) bubbles filled with Co2. Very very effective, low collateral damage and very easy to clean up after the event.

Fire safety/Fire extinguishers - what to buy etc

The ceiling mounted unit has a glass phial that seals the extinguishing medium in the unit. The phial needs nake flame to break it. So, although 'automatic' the fire is usually fairly advanced before the unit activates. Positioning close to the potential source of a fire is critical. These units...

How to drill into a concrete lintel?

Agree wholeheartedly. There is a major difference between an ordinary drill with hammer action and a rotary hammer drill.

Rhodesian Teak for making box ?

Just a point of interest. You mention 'some old Rhodesian teak', treasure it because there is no more 'new' Rhodesian teak. It was used for railway sleepers initially. Since converted to concrete sleepers and Rhodesian teak is no longer available except in old sleepers and parque flooring.

    Removing some of truss Webbing

what roof covering do you have. Your trusses look like the type designed for tiles. If you've got e.g. metal sheeting for roofing you would have some leeway with the number of supports needed in the trusses

....or, try mounting it on a rubber mat. The drone might be going through whatever it's mounted on?

Can someone recommend a decent outdoor polyurethane or varnish for my oak doors?

Agree. Most good varnishes have 50%+ oil content to 'feed' the timber, and a 'shelac' to seal the oil in. The 'shelac' breaks down in time, with exposure to UV, making life easier for a light sanding and reapply of varnish.

    Woodwork eye protection safety glasses

Picking this thread up a bit late but, I'd go for overkill on protection followed by comfort. Can't negotiate eye replacement.

    2 stroke garden machinery frustration

Idle but won't rev - runs rough = all of the aforementioned, but very possibly a silencer clogged with carbon. Too much oil in the fuel mix, faulty spark or other poor ignition will deposit gunk in the silencer which interupts the free flow of exhaust air. Remove, clean thoroughly and reassemble.

Best paint for a galvanised/slightly rusted metal roof?

Calcium plumbate was/is designed specifically for priming new galvanised sheeting, and bonds very very effectively to the galvanise. Once the sheeting has weathered and rusting, a single pack etching primer should do the trick. Top coat - most rubberised roof paints will do.
