Looking for featherboards to fit a Draper CTS200 table saw

Hi all, I posted about this in the thread about the Draper table saw £200 bargain that a fair few of you took advantage of, which probably wasn't the ideal place. So, trying again, I'm looking for featherboards having accidentally bought a set of bench dog ones which of course don't fit the...

Draper 200mm Cast Iron Table saw £200 ?!?!

Hi all, I was lucky enough to bag one of these from Barnes for £200 as well. It's my first table saw so I don't have anything to compare it with, but like many of you before have said, any specific concerns just melted away for that money. My only issues for now are getting the thing more...

    Reducing tearout on mitre saw.

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions, ordered an Evo wood blade which came this morning, and the difference is night and day. No need for a ZC insert anymore, it cuts beautifully. One thing I've noticed though is that the multi blade seemed to stop a little quicker than the new wood one...

    Reducing tearout on mitre saw.

Yeah I can probably trace around it, is it best practice to make the insert and then create the slot using the actual blade and angle I'm using?

    Reducing tearout on mitre saw.

Thanks fellas, that's all really useful info. I'll try it with a board at the back and underneath and hopefully that'll improve things. I'm reluctant to cough up for a new blade at this point as I've seen this one perform well on similar wood online, but if needs must I suppose yeah, they're...

    Reducing tearout on mitre saw.

Hey guys, back again. I bought an Evo Rage 3 a couple of months ago and just started my first real project with it. I'm cutting grooved untreated decking boards and getting a lot more tearout than expected. It behaves better with a board underneath but the cut edge on top is still very ragged...

    Stanley impact driver bits

Hey all. Just snagged a Stanley impact driver and combi drill twin pack from Homebase and am wondering if Stanley make their own impact bits. I bought a Stanley branded set labelled "Torsion" which looked very similar in design to a cheap Craftright set labelled "Impact". Usual design, fluted...

Jig / clamp for cutting vertically on mitre saw

Yeah, I was talking about ripping. Probably explains why there aren't any jigs available. I guess I'll just do it the old fashioned way... Thanks for the save!

Jig / clamp for cutting vertically on mitre saw

Hi folks, Until I can afford a tablesaw or bandsaw I may have to make the odd vertically oriented cut using my mitre saw. Obviously this isn't ideal as I'll be very limited on height, but for smaller pieces it should be OK if I can clamp it securely and safely. I'll looked through the...

    New router advice

The Bosch I linked to is probably where I want to be on price vs reliability, usefulness & performance right now. What's the general consensus on MacAllister gear though? I've never used anything made by them so haven't got much to go on other than they seem to be pretty cheap.

    New router advice

I'm definitely in as a hobby for now so there's no way it's going to see every day use. It might be used on varied projects though, so would be good if I could find one with the full range of attachments, particularly the plunge base. So far, all I can find is this one...

    New router advice

Thanks Bob, that's really helpful advice, It sounds like a decent 1/2" is the way to go and maybe pick up a cheaper 1/4" for a backup / smaller pieces down the line.

    New router advice

Thanks for your thoughts SunnyBob Brand is obviously a big consideration and I'm trying to stay on the other side of cheap and cheerful as like yourself, I value quality and reliability. Would you entertain a Bosch POF 1200?

    New router advice

First of many requests for bits of advice... Looking at tooling up my garage into a functional workshop for a range of household projects. Got a mitre saw & drill press, looking at table saws soon but figure I'll also need a router pretty quickly. Does anyone have any sub £100...

    Hi from Bradford

Hi there, thanks for that. Saved me a trip... do need to make a box for outdoor planting at some stage though. Maybe they'll come in for there. I'm basically just on the other side of Greengates, through Calverley. Still come over to Leeds all the time though, missus works in Horsforth and I...

    Hi from Bradford

Hello all, just registered on the site yesterday and wanted to see if there's anyone else in my neck of the woods. I'm in Bradford (Bolton) having just bought a place with my missus which happily has a decent sized garage I need to get fitted out for woodworking. The guy who owned the place...
