The joys of buying a cheap table saw.

I've added my own fence and side bits. The fence is a lot better then the rubbish that came with it.

Okay. What do you do with your mountain of offcuts?

Thanks folks. Lots of good suggestions. I'll keep the larger pieces and turn them into something and burn the smaller bits.

Okay. What do you do with your mountain of offcuts?

I'm quite new to woodworking but I'm slowly collecting a mountain of offcuts that I've been keeping in big plastic buckets on the off chance that I might need that little bit. The end result is that I'm incrementally filling up my garage (my workshop) with loads of this stuff. What do you...

    Replacing my terrible table saw!

I bought a cheap table saw off gumtree recently and I noticed that the blade was not parallel to the mitre slots. I discovered there was 4 big hex bolts holding the motor assembly to the table. I relaxed those bolts and got the blade aligned to the mitre slot and then tightened them up. It...

The joys of buying a cheap table saw.

I'm a huge fan of recycling. The reason why I choose this saw was because it had a 2k motor which is quite powerful. More then enough for me. This is it stripped down and the table levelled which involved undoing the screws that held the top to the base and adjusting the fit before...

The joys of buying a cheap table saw.

Mine had three issues and here is how I addressed it. 1. The blade was not parallel to the mitre slot. I think the back of the blade was 2mm close to the mitre slot then the front. I was pretty disappointed to find that out. Anyway I realised that there was 4 big allen bolts holding the...

The joys of buying a cheap table saw.

Bought a cheap table saw on Gumtree which is the same model as this: Got it home (in the pouring rain) and put it on my bench in my garage to check alignment after checking some youtube vids on how to do that. 1. Is it sitting at 90 degrees. Nope. 2. Is the blade parallel to the mitre...

    My massive glue up...

er... That's a good point which I hadn't thought off. I was hoping that the would has been holding my roof up for the last 60 years so would be pretty stable. May not. #-o

    My massive glue up...

So finishing my next project I had to do a massive glue up. If you can see the rough dark brown bit of roofing lumber near the bottom of the piccie. I had a load of that left over after having a loft converted so I re-sawed it down into 50 slats and made my new desk top which is over 3 metres...

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Thanks Mike. I have also made a cross cut and miter jig for it. I will look into getting a crown guard. I have all ten fingers and intend to keep it that way, My next project will be a mortice and tenon jig for my router. I'll post that as I go. John

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Hi folks. I'm new to wood working and have decided to take it up as a hobby. This is my first project I completed this week. Converting a circular saw to a bench saw. It has a moveable lockable fence that works well.
