    Electric saws.

Could anyone put me straight on the type of electric saw I'd use the most? Portable circular saw. Same but fixed with a mitre board and the ability to cut at angles, a band saw? I only have room for one to be honest. ( Understand I can box the circular saw) I'm looking at general woodworking...

    Lathe homemade?

Guy's. Ive seen some You-Tube clips showing simple lathes using a hand drill as the turner. With that in mind, does anyone know if you can buy the wood parts to make one like a flat pack kit? I'm not in the position to make one myself yet, as I need a few cutting tools to get started, or have...

    Ideas please.

Marcos. I take it you have to remove the guard on the bottom of any jig saw, to make it work in that holder you suggested?

    Ideas please.

Robbo, That looks ideal as I can use the saw for other things portable? May well get that and then buy a jig saw. Marcos, You're right, just a few for me, but I'm looking to get some tools together for general woodwork stuff at home! Guys, really helpful and have opened my eyes to what is...

    Ideas please.

Hi all. I want to make some fishing lures from wood. Initially I need to cut the wood into a shape (roughly) of a small fish. A bandsaw would be ideal, but I'll have to make do with a jig saw. If I buy an electric one, what is the best thing to hold it in for cutting. I'm a complete novice to...

    New Bench.

Got my new bench last night. I'll be setting it up in the garage today, (came in several bits) then fitting a vice to it. I'm to DIY as what Donald Trump is to political correctness. So it should be fun, but every step gives confidence. I know nothing about DIY so will be logging in, asking...

Do I need a chuck for this lathe?

This comes with several six in fact collets. They must fit this lathe or they wouldn't be in the kit I suppose? Thanks I'll get the chuck too.

Do I need a chuck for this lathe?

So you're saying the 3 jaw steel one is worth the money and I'd use it? It does have some things called collets, what do they do and will they fit the chuck?

Do I need a chuck for this lathe?

Hello Guys. I'm finally buying a Proxoon DB250 microdot lathe now i have my garage sorted. It does not come with a chuck and Amazon has one beside the lathe for wood turning for about £30. I'm making some fishing floats and wood baits, do I need a chuck. I know it holds things in place, but...

    sharp knife.

Lons. Super work, very encouraging. However I do think its a world away from knife carving, you can really wack a chisel and put a lot of pressure on an item in a vice! With hand carving you really do need a soft wood, not silly soft but enough a knife will slice through it. My Mora is just...

    sharp knife.

Peter, Bob, guys. I'm using Lime mostly. The lime came from a craft shop and is a hard as granite, and brittle. I wasn't until I looked on the American woodcarving site that I understood you can buy wood that's just too hard, even Lime. Looking on You-tube Gene Messer, Sharon my art and others...

    sharp knife.

I've a Mora carving knife, but simply cannot keep and edge on it for more than 15 minutes carving, Is that normal? To date I don't have a strop, would that make the difference? I seem to get the knife sharpe on the stone, doing the paper cut test. Seems I'd do just as well with a Stanley knife...

    Hand Saw, thought I'd ask?

Hi chaps. No I do make a float or two, but out of balsa and cork. But this is for making a few little figures, all with a knife. Very kind offer Luker. Maybe once the weather is a touch better I'll come over for a cup of tea and a chat. Be nice to see what your doing too? Thanks. Dicky.

    Hand Saw, thought I'd ask?

So I'm going to have to cut this dried lime wood into 6cm pieces. What would be the best saw for the job? A hack-saw, junior hack saw or a proper saw for wood. If so suggest one I can pop out and buy please? I need a clean cut I'd guess so a saw with fine teeth?? No experience in this so help...

    Alternative wood please?

Mike. Agree they did the same with fishing rods two piece 12' rods. Would not do 6 foot. Other carriers took the market, and shops have not used them since. Crazy way to run a business. Thinking it all over I've bit the bullet and brought various pen wood blanks (on sale) and also about two...
