Had a little visiter join me in the shop today. Took me half an hour to get him out the door. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What did you do in your workshop today ?

When we went to the timber yard my dad uses and asked what he had in for a bench top he pointed up over to some reclaimed stuff he had in which turned out to be mahogany, possibly Brazilian. He had about 8 lengths of the stuff, between 8-10ft long, 12" wide and 2" thick and he said we could have...

Are there any Saw Doctors left?

Thanks everyone. It's not so much the sharpening, my dad can do that as well as his eyesight will let him and I'm sure he could show me. It's more getting them straight, the curves aren't too bad but it's a saw I like enough to want it done properly. If I tried it myself it would end up like...

Are there any Saw Doctors left?

Does anyone know of any a Saw Doctor that could straighten and sharpen a couple of saws. Rather than trying to rediscover this ancient art in an afternoon, without any of the proper tools, I'd rather send them off to someone who knows what they are doing. They are good saws that deserve it doing...

    Post your Workshop Thread

Chaps, this isn't about impressing anyone, I like looking through the workshop build threads. But rather that having to trawl through all the pages to find the best picsor the pics of the completed shop I thought it might be an idea for a thread containing them all that could be easily browsed...

    Post your Workshop Thread

Don't get me wrong, I'm forever blowing that forum, but my thinking is of a thread that is just dedicated to pictures. Any member that wants to can post some pics of their workshop, a writeup maybe. Then the next member posts up their shop. These threads on other forums are examples of what I...

    Post your Workshop Thread

Hi, this is both a question and a suggestion. I apologies if there is already such a thread, and I've not found it, but how about a 'Post your workshop' show thread. Perhaps pinned in the Projects forum. Other forums have such threads, for example Hard forum's 'Post your workstation" yearly...

    Lidl tool time again

I have my set, the local lidl had put everything out tonight. I have to agree with some comments i've read on these, the handles feel about an inch too long, but that can be fixed. All in all, very pleased.

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Apologies if you've already tried it, but run some self-adhesive draft tape around the lip of the bucket to form a seal between that and the wood, it works for me with pretty much the same setup.

    Mawhood chisels

I'll try again to post up the picture. Just had a quick go at sharpening one of them, seem to come up good, I can't wait to try them in the workshop tomorrow. Just missing the 1" chisel, I'll have to keep my eye out for one to complete the set.

    Mawhood chisels

I've just picked up these for £22, was it a good buy? What information l've been able to find on Mawhood suggests they were good? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Making the Most of a Cheap Wooden Shed?

The worst mistake you can make is the one I made, by getting a shed with an apex roof. I can only stand up in the centre. When I got my shed, I was sulking. My wife issued movements orders from the spare room because we were planning a baby so she bought me a shed as a consolation prize. I wish...
