    Remote control for extractors

Colleagues, not sure if anyone has responded, but today i got fed up losing my remote switch. So i changed a socket to BG Smart Power (got it from Screwfix a while back for the house), then connected it to Alexa. Dust extractor now turns off and on via Alexa or by using the socket switch...

    DIY Beeswax polish

Paul I'd be interested in your final findings. I wonder if everyone whos posted has got bees? i got bees with the intent of getting the wax to have a go at making polish ( byproduct is also10L of honey this season and about to get circa 20L next week, so another benifit) . I've just finished...

    Dust extractor NVR switch

Derek, i simply bypassed the NVR on my extractor, so its permanantly on when plugged in. Then simply put one of those cheap romote on/off sockets you can get in any shop/amazon. The remote is left by the table saw and next to the P/T. So switching on/off is now so easy. I left all the connectors...

What is your pet peeve injury in the workshop?

l was using the nail gun and shot a nail into a piece of oak and had my hand behind the direction of the nail. it did a 90 degree turn and went in to my thumb. It was the same force you'd use to uncork a bottle of wine to separate me from the wood.

Wood burning stove for the workshop?

i was about to buy a wood stove for the workshop and I suspect the ago-rythms :-) worked it out and linked me to the chinese diesel heaters. Got one for the workshp 50m2 and its a game changer. Gone from workshop visits in the winter where when i come back to the house, a hot shower burns like...

    Oak, glue and black lines

Richard, how did you apply the glue, i've had a few occassions where i've used metal application tools and the metal and tanin will react and i recall i got a black line on one or two occassions. I use oak around 70% of the time on my projects and never (with above exception) get a reaction from...

Wadkin Knife setting jig for BAO/S 12

Alan, Good luck finding one as i recall looking at other brands, not cheap. I'm just about to get the same machine up and running, 3Phase. But I'm guessing you've had a PT before. I have an older Axminster Perform PT and I've never bothered with the setting tool. I used to use the steel rule...

    4 in 1 garden tool....

I bought this, just for the chainsaw and hedge cutting. No problems so far. My logic was that it was going to cost me far more than £150 to get someone in to crop the oak tree and cut the hedge. So at this price, it was almost disposable. https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/the-han ... ulti-tool/

Any recommendations/tips/views for CAD/3D modelling software

Sketchup is free to download, I use it a lot. Mainly for woodworking stuff. But I also do 3D printing so I also use Fusion360. If you are not familiar with 3D, start out with SketchUp or one of the other free software noted above. It is intuitive and loads of tutorials on YouTube.

Great recommendation, I'm Irish but my Gaeilge schooling is too old so subtitles are on. Started yesterday and already on episode 7 or 8.
