    Planer Accident

You guys are not getting my point. Doesnt anyone else think its scary how anyone of any age can walk into B&Q or aldi/lidl buy a router, go home chuck a bit in (could be a raised panel bit) and chuck it straight into a peice of wood. At college we had to show we were confident in using handtools...

    Planer Accident

This is precisely why i dont agree with cheap DIY kit being sold to anyone. The only people using machinary should be proffessional woodworkers that have had a degree of training. Im still amazed that you can walk into homebase for example and buy a router or skillsaw.

    Forum for proffesoonals?

It's all well and good having the hobbyists say "well I can make a wardrobe just as good as a professional" brilliant how long did it take you? " oh 3 months"....brill. so that's £3 an hour. The skill is not making the product but making the same quality product in a time frame to earn money.

Apologies to any one offended, easy to do now days. Just looking for a forum for proffesionals, that's all. Earning a living and doing woodworking in your shed at weekends is not the same, that's not an insult or critism, just a fact. And what I mean by that is in testing tools , for example it...

    Cost of Wood

The worst thing for saw mills is weekend warriors coming in and going through piles of wood looking for a peice that is 800 long. Then trying to knock them down in price!

Which first, Osmo worktop oil or siilicone?

I would take words of professionals rather than someone who fitted their own kitchen 8 years ago. I do a number of bespoke kitchens, you never use silicone first as where ever you spread it the oil wont penetrate, you will end up with different coloured wood, one where the clear silicone has...

Who watches YouTube videos & are they helpful ?

If you are new to woodworking, youtube can be a dangerous place. It seems now any guy with a woodworking shed and a camera can shoot a 'how to' video. The problem is that alot of guys have never attempted the process (ie, dovetail, routing etc) before they film them selves and then post it as a...

A couple of questions about built ins

Really. If he is going to be taking money off a client for this job, i would at least expect him to know how to take accurate measurements from a job site to a workshop, basic knowledge there. And yes the old saying of you have got to start somewhere but thats where an apprenticeship comes in to...
