    Builders Merchants

Thread Bump Just got a quote from Travis Perkins that made me laugh. That's a horrendous price! I've found other smaller places that can do it for half of that but they'll are all a long drive from Cambridge. Would it be possible for someone with a trade account to get a quote for the same...

Can I use this as amembrane for my shed walls?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cromar-Vent-3 ... 8286734a74 I can't believe how cheap it is. I was previously looking at something on wickes that was over double the price. Also... What are peoples thoughts on 600mm centres for the studwork frame? I will be sheathing it with 9mm OSB then battens...

    Pine cladding

Can I use this for the outside of a shed and if so what treatment does it need?

    OSB for sheathing

What stud spacings have you gone for? I was thinking of 400mm centres using 11mm OSB,

    OSB for sheathing

What would people reccomend for sheathing a shed wall, 11mm or 18mm OSB and should I use OSB2 or 3? I'm going to use breather membrane then put battens and cladding on the outside as well. Also, how much do you pay for each kind of OSB per sheet?

    Critique my shed roof please

Is this what you mean? Also... Is a gutter essential on the lowest side of the roof or can I leave it out to reduce costs? EDIT: Just had a look at EPDM roof kits. Does this seem reasonable for a 4m x 3m roof? http://www.rubber4roofs.co.uk/epdm-calc ... ards/step3

    Critique my shed roof please

I am hoping to build a shed in the new year and I am not sure how to finish the roof off. So far I have 6"x2" rafters spaced at 400mm with 18mm OSB 3 on top that I plan on laying felt onto. What I'm not sure of is how to finish the edges and the eaves of the roof itself.

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

Very jealous of your project. I will be laying a concrete base for my gym shed soon and I am wondering how you finished the concrete. Is it just tamped with a piece of wood or did you use a bull float?

Do I need to clear these trees?

Because my gym equipment total weight is around a ton and I don't fancy replacing a wood floor every few weeks.

Do I need to clear these trees?

This is the area that I will be building my gym shed and I'm wondering if I need to remove the trees that run along the fence before I put the concrete base down? The tape measure on the floor marks out the extent and width of the shed. Mod Edit:-

    Shed Roof

2x6 it is then. What about centres, will 600mm be ok?

    Shed Roof

I am going to be building my gym shed soon but don't have a design for the roof yet. My plan is to do a monopitch roof and I was thinking of just putting some 2x4's spaced at 450mm across the length of the roof then cover with OSB and felt but I'm not sure if the 2x4's will be enough. The span...

    I've found a fencing supplier nearby doing 1800mm x 125mm x 25mm featheredge board for 99p inc VAT. I assume it's not treated though.

What about this http://www.huntingdontimber.co.uk/PRICE_LIST.pdf It's the 2.4mtr 125mm x 25mm featheredge treated at 2.32 inc VAT at the bottom.

I'll have to ask my brother if his account is one in arrears. I'll give Jewsons a try as well as 87p+VAT is bloody cheap for 2.1Lm. I'm not sure if there is any fencing suppliers nearby. Knowing Cambridge if there are they will be stupidly over priced! The amount of cover does make quite a large...

I rang Ridgeons quoting my brothers account number and got a price of £554! How can it be more expensive with a trade account?

    Builders Merchants

I went into my local Ridgeons this morning to get a price for 200m of 175mm wide featheredge board. They quoted me £392 incl VAT! I didn't ask for any discount but I've heard they discount just about anyone if they ask. My brother has a trade account as well so I'm going to give that a try but...

    Gym Shed Concrete Base

How thick a layer of old bricks or chalk do I need? Also, insulation is not an issue. I currently train in my single car garage that is in a block. The coldest it has been in there is minus 5c and I soon warmed up.
