    Old Bandsaw Blade Uses.

Hi guys, so I've got a 3tpi 3/4" blade that's badly kinked so I've replaced it. I'm now sitting looking at the old blade, which actually is still quite new and sharp, and wondering if there's anything I can use it for? Anyone cut one up for anything? I was thinking possibly a parting tool for...

    Groove and glue or biscuits?

Hi guys, I'm currently planning a large storage unit for a customer. It'll be made with 18mm birch plywood and will be simply made with upright pieces with a top and bottom with shelves inside. I'll add doors too but my question is about joining the plywood together. I can't decide what would be...

    Circular blade for tenons?

Hi guys, I've got 60 m+t joints to cut and plan on cutting the tenons on the table saw using my crosscut sled. The only issue it the ATB blade leaves a very uneven finish due to the alternating bevel. I guess a purely flat blade would cause a lot of tearout and I can't fit a dado blade on my saw...

    Adding potentiometer to bench grinder.

Eyup, I'm just about to order a potentiometer to give my 8" record power bench grinder variable speed. Should be a fairly simple job, has anyone done this before? Is there something I'm missing or is it really as simple as wiring the pot in front of the motor? Cheers Damo

    Grinder bought!

Well look what the postie brought me today! OK, I know it's not a fancy Tormek or Sorby or a CBN thingmie but it's perfect for me and I thank everyone who helped me along the road to it's purchase. It was quite hard to get for its RRP. It was sold out almost everywhere and the ones all over...

    Chisel sharpening on a budget...

Hi guys, I'm almost ready to start turning but just need a sharpening system. I've read loads of info and absolutely cannot afford any of the Sorby/Tormek systems, I'm thinking just a bench grinder with a white wheel and a jig. Specifically this one...

    Pattern Makers Chisels?

I've been offered some pattern makers chisels, are these any good for turning? I haven't heard of pattern makers chisels before, my gut says they're not suitable but thought I'd ask just to be sure :-) Thanks D

Sold Circular Saw Blades and Dado Set

Hi guys, clearing out the darkest recesses of the workshop and came across these. I've no idea of their worth, they're quite old but they've seen little to no use at all and edges are all sharp. Maybe at least one was for an old dewalt radial arm saw... Thought I'd see if anyone here wanted to...

    New chisels!!

Just wanted to say I now own woodturning chisels! Bought a set of four Stormont chisels off ebay so I can finally get into the lathe I've had sitting for two years... Haven't heard of Stormont chisels before, are they any good? I figured they looked the part and hope were at least worth the...

Eyup folks, hope we're all doing OK and getting plenty making done :-) I'm looking to replace my 10" table saw blades and my head is about ready to pop... Usage: -Hard and soft wood ripping, sometimes up to ~70mm thick -Ripping birch ply and normal ply -Occasional cross cutting using a...

    Which floor standing pillar drill?

Hi folks, I'm kitting out my workshop and reckon I've sorted everything apart from a pillar drill. I've used so many which don't quite cut it. A bit too much run out, not quite enough power, not quite enough travel etc and I'm after a reliable and solid machine that does what it's meant to...

    New member!

Hey folks, just thought I'd say hi given the fact I make major workshop and tool decisions based on things I read here. A wealth of knowledge. Thanks :-) Currently about to buy some new machines so I expect I'll be searching the forum more, watching videos and reading reviews a lot more in the...

    Help with wood ID?

Hi guys, I picked up some worktop that used to be in a local university, two 4 metre lengths which I was told were walnut. When I got there the tops are clearly made of several types of wood. I know it's a longshot but can anybody shed some light on what they may be? If this picture is pants I...
