Most benches seem to have laminate top which has many advantage. Because of timber cost, I use a 1 inch laminate layer on top of three layers of mdf. It works great but is definitely not to be moved to offen. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

If you cut both pieces of the FC from the same wood piece, the angle is not too much of a factor as there sure to fit together snugly. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

My bench was a copy of the 21 Century design. As wood are very expensive, in South Africa where I live, the top is 25mm thick laminated Salinga. The rest of the thickness is bulked out with MDF. The frame of course is pine. I still have to make some reversible boxes to fit down the middle. One...
