Jointing a Large DIY Oak Tabletop

Thank you! It is the 20" with spiral head. Love it! I needed a machine that I could take a part fairly easily so that I could get it through the house. A struggle but got it there in the end!

Jointing a Large DIY Oak Tabletop

I don't know if you saw my build of a table using wedge shaped pieces? Shows how I dealt with joining and wood movement. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/threads/wedding-table-build-with-pictures.142343/

    Drum Sander Conveyor Fix

Tapped and new shaft in place. (Of course did not have the right length grub screws) Correct screws. Re installed in sander. I Loctite the grub screws in place. Worked a treat.

    Drum Sander Conveyor Fix

My Jet drum sander drive roller decided to snap on me so here is the fix I undertook to get it back up and running. The cause of failure for this could have been metal fatigue as the roller is under pressure from the conveyor belt. What did not help the fact is that a 'cheaper' aftermarket...

    Metal cart/stand

Workshop is a little busy at the moment so they are not great pictures. Wiring travels through the bent tube to the switches. Gundog Forge Grinder kit for anyone interested. I use this for sanding some of my wooden parts hence the 100mm extract attached. The parts have a radius of 10mm in one...

    Metal cart/stand

This Is the stand I made a few weeks ago. Made from 35mm 3mm wall box section with plywood shelves for the VFD and spare belts. Mine goes on castors as i need to move it. Perfectly strong enough but not heavy to move/lift. Ill get some pictures of the finished stand when I get home.

    Einhell TC-5B 200/1 bandsaw?

Attach some photos you may get a better response. Might just be the quality of this brand of saw.

    Triton TPL180B Triple blade planer.

Ive seen many people have the same experience as you have. I thought they changed the design to make it stronger. Obviously not.. I have the same planer as well. Seems a weak point on it.

    Wedding Table Build with Pictures

Thank you! I had the very centre joints try to pull apart. Next time I would make my 3mm ply joiners go a lot closer to the centre of the table to aid strength. I think at the end of the day its going to move. Where ever you try to reinforce it the wood will find a weak spot to pull apart...

    Wedding Table Build with Pictures

Once glued I mounted it to the cnc and cut the pocket for the bearing and then contoured cut the rest. A final heavy chamfer on both inner and outer edges. The piece was then ebonised and Oiled. Made a few bowls and plates to accompany the table. They have a threaded outer profile which...

    Wedding Table Build with Pictures

Attaching the fins to the main table top. The slot made from the section I cut out is perfect to drop some clamps into to enable me to clamp the fins. Now time to work on the base. Rough cut the material on the bandsaw. I am using the same technique with the wedges and a template. This time...

The slots. My circle jig has a 30mm wide slot running down it in which a guide bush on the router can slide. This will enable me to cut the slots accurately. I had to come back and manually cut the slots right to the middle. I made a small rebate in the fins so that they sit over slots...

    Wedding Table Build with Pictures

The table top. Planning up and sanding the segments to final thickness. I am using my spindle to accurately shape each segment. The template has 10mm recessed holes in which I use a 10mm drill to transfer screw marks to the top. The template is then screwed to each piece. Grain...

    Wedding Table Build with Pictures

I tasked myself to build a 'top table' for my wedding. On telling my now wife this I was met with: 'Your just doing this to get out of other jobs..' Which was true. ;) I built some cake stands a few years back and wanted to base the table on this design. I wanted to make it from solid oak as I...
