    Aurora tonight

It's the dancing and weaving that is most impressive.

Awe inspiring? Seen a couple of times way up North, never expected to see them in Cambs!

    doors and window frames

Rather than bigger tools, can you build up the shape using two or three smaller pieces and make up the shape with the tools you have?

    Remember your first....

1964. I left school and home for a 6 week training session, then joined my first ship (trawler) for Iceland. 3 weeks later I came ashore 'rich' with pound notes making a bulge in my top pocket. I worked it out, my 'rate' was about 6d per hour. 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, physical hard work...

    Workbench Project

I had to remove my vice after about 15 years to clean / regrease etc. Pig to refit holding it from underneath... I can't quite guess how easy / hard yours would be to remove / refit? <grin/> I hope you don't mind it getting a few dings - looks good enough to eat off!

    Labelling system

Modern Dynotape is so much better than the old mechanical ones.

    8 point sockets

100% agree. Equally I gloat to myself each time I pick up a seldom used tool knowing it's the 'right' one for the job. Possibly my excuse for overspending on tools.

    Cheaper v more expensive tools

A clear indicator. With your costs, looks like a new saw, if you want to go that route. IMHO you got a friday machine, I would hope even cheap saws would last longer than that. You decide if you want to go for a better machine.

    Phillips / Posidriv Screwdrivers

Perhaps treat yourself? Ifixit toolsets are well made and cover most eventualities in the smaller range.

    Multitool advice

Corded Fein user, 5 years or so. No vibration worth talking about. Soft start, good range of tools available. Not sure there are 'cheap' options? Curious where @Adam W. found that experience.

Be cheap and use a hand strop? Does the job.

Controlling a vac with remote (or anything <30A)

'Big Clive' has this channel - lots of interesting stuff (mostly far East). This is a tiny 'remote' and a black box capable of switching 30 amps (declared). I.e. should be good for a vac when starting tool X.
