    Suggestions for joining worktop

I would use the standard bolts. Use loose (none glued) biscuits to line up the top surfaces. I think any glue would eventually fail. Welcome to the forum. I used to stay at (live) in shore st in Thurso .

Won't somebody think of "young people"? (Edit: and No, older people aren't "to blame")

That period coincided with our kids arriving. No maternity payments in those days, my wife was on the dole for two years, it was worth very little as I had a salary. The wife, as a nurse had a job to go back to once the kids were older : weekends and nights, so I could look after them. For most...

Won't somebody think of "young people"? (Edit: and No, older people aren't "to blame")

Excluding the south east, the ratio of house prices to average salary are very similar now as they were when I bought my house 40 years ago. Both my (early 30s) sons have their own home. One has a house bigger and better than I have ever owned. The other has already paid off 50% of his...

    Invasion of US Capitol building

Well it's another country ,so for most of us it's none of our business to comment one way or the other. Our Home Secretary poked her oar in today We have enough problems of our own, she wants to get slavery stamped out in the uk. That is a damn disgrace and entirely within her remit.

Well seasoned Beech table lamp kits.

These would make excellent scrub planes. Ten minutes work putting a radius on the blade with a bench grinder and they are ready to go.

    Air Quality Testing

There are too many variables for cheap testing to give meaningful results. If you must do something do a lamp test. You know how you can see dust when there is a ray of sunshine in the room, well artificial version of that. https://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/mdhs/pdfs/mdhs82-2.pdf If money is...

    Air Quality Testing

I used to do this for a living. It's far more complex than you can imagine and the cost of the kit and wherewithal, to interpret the results is way beyond your pockets. However, when I tested for clients I pretty much knew a pass or fail by simply observing any dust on a horizontal surface at...

    General purpose plane

That’s going to cost you thirty some odd quid, which to my mind is the going rate. It looks fine to me, at worst you will need to fettle it slightly. See Paul Sellers you tube
