i made a gobblets as a price for the local ladies rural meeting. i was doing a talk on my other hobby metal detecting. someone gave me the piece of timber awhile ago it has not been stained just wood sealer and polished
I have started on it this evening i had to keep stopping the lathe as the curly bits kept ticking me nose as they span around :D
I am using a scraper and keep retouching it on the grinder.
one of my awning poles the nylon / plastic part has snapped i have a piece of nlyon, was wondering if i could turn it down to size on my wood lathe and what chisels would i use. ?.... Thanks for reading.

i missed it to . its only my 3rd piece i have made on my lathe , only had the lathe a couple of months , was give some lovely bog oak .when i finished the piece i though, hey if i dont use it as a priest i can drill a hole and make a wooden torch :lol:
have you got a spare piece to try this on it, i have done beams and mantle tops this way, get a blow torch and burn it a little , then wirebrush it and sand it . maybe there is something on youtube that will show you what it can look like.

years ago when you went to see a specialist they said were are going to do this, now they give you the choice of how you would like it treated . the treatment i had can only be done if the cancer is...
Two months ago i was treated for prostrate cancer. i chose to have the seed implants. There is only two hospitals in scotland. I was very thankfull that i was chose to have this done. It was done in edingburgh, they only do two ops a week.
Time will tell how things turn out.
I have collected the bog oak meself i got it of a farmer friend had some of it stored in the shed. I put a piece in the lathe yesterday wow it looked great when i turned itva bit, and the first thing i thought of was oh my wee dog would look great carved out of that stuff, he is as black as coal.
