Impressive!!!! That's a really beautiful work!!

    Power supply

Type C seems a good choice. Allow 3 times rated current for around 15s and 10 times for 2s. Take chance your doing maintenance to check if the motor/fan is clean and as suggested finish_that to check also no other mechanical reason creating a break tork when hot.

    Power supply

I do agree with you Monkey Mark about the section. 1.5mm is a VERY minimum. I personally would put 2.5mm too. Anyhow, with 1.5mm and 20m long. At 20 degree, resistance is 0.227 Ohms, and at 25 Amp, voltage drop is 5.6V (2,3%) At 100 degree and all same, resistance is 0.316 Ohms, voltage drop is...

    Power supply

Hi again, really the cable can't be the problem. Anyhow for your security check they have enough section (1.5sqmm as a very minimum). And the fuse or breaker should blow if consuming more than 13A for a very short time. Give me if you want the exact reference and I'll send you the breaking...

    Power supply

You're right. If you run it off a 13 amp socket that mean that it does not draw 16 amp. Or that the fuse is not working... But this hardly can explain why it doesn't start fine. Even cables heating can't explain that: the resistance of a cable is very little affected by the temperature. This...

    Painting plywood

Hi Alan, I understand you want to gloss it and so not see the wood grain (logical on plywood). I suggest first extend a thin layer of wood filler/wood putty especially on the edges. The plywood would absorb a lot of primer/paint on the edges as the fibre is open at this point. Then sand...

    First dovetails (and wood identification?)

Good job! Especially if it's your first one!! Hard to say which wood from a pic. I would suggest it's Meranti anyhow. Cheers

    kitchen worktop

18mm seems very thin. Not only because it would bend a lot, even if on top of furniture, but also for aesthetic reasons. Usually work top ar 32-35mm thick. Another detail, don't forget to use marine plywood if you go for this solution. This would avoid it to warp

Workshop to rent/to share in Hull

Hi all, I'm new in Hull (new in UK too...) but still with ideas and wish to make woodworking. Any how, all my tools stayed in Madrid and I've no space to work now. Anyone heard about workshop to rent for short time or woodworking club or even fellows who can allow access to their workshop for...
