Axminster CCJ Jointer - Manual Help

After taking the old blades off the machine i could see what adjustment i had. Using a method i saw online i setp the blades so that they move a ruler 5mm from the outfeed table. Seems to work and got some great finish on the wood i ran through yesterday

Does anyone have a copy they could send me or have a link to download it. Just about to try changing out the...

Advice on what lathe to replace my old Coronet

+1 on this. This is an even better machine that i thought it would be when I bought it. Cost more than my car but worth every penny.

Just won a Record Power Model 0 - what now!

must be a full face. I've just been lucky with goggles in the past. In that nothing hit me in the face. full face is the way to go. I have a trend air shield for sale in the for sale forum. I have a 6" white grinding wheel I can throw in if it would be of any use (i upgraded to 8"). Best...

Advice on a hobby wood turning Lathe

As you dont already have a lathe i would try and buy anything you can second hand. I had an older version of what you are looking for and it served me well for a number of years, i think i beat it to within an inch of its life. Assuming you like turning you will quickly want better everything...

    CBN wheels

CBN wheels are amazing. If you can get one then get one or at least make sure you can upgrade to one in the future. It is undescribable how different they are. Got mine from the toolpost to fit my slow speed Axminster grinder. Takes longer to spin up the grinder and jig the tool than to...

    Carbide tip tools

I've bought from that site before and just ordered 2 more yesterday. Very good quality. Would recommend the round one if you only pick one. I thought about making my own but when I factored in material and the time it would take I think the £26 for a tool is well priced. I don't use them very...

Advice on first purchase spend split

I would really recommend trying to get some of this stuff second hand. A second hand lathe will be a lot cheaper and if you really get into you will buy a newer/bigger/smaller one based on what you like doing. I am now on my third. Same for tools and the sharpening stuff. Check ebay, there is...

    Word of warning

While I am sure you want the fun of making a pencil clock, if you get stuck let me know. I have 2 up on my etsy store (PM me if you would like a link, not sure I can post it here) I have 5 more on the bench just waiting for finish.

    Word of warning

Spot on Andy. I have found exactly the same. I order the polyester resin as it was a lot cheaper. Even if it worked as the glue the smell is unbearable and it lasts for nearly a week. As a material, I have found it will handle a compression force with no trouble but any sort of expansion force...

    Hampshire Sheen

Why do you have to be careful with the Yorkshire grit and the finish. The Yorkshire grit is first and then a finish is applied afterward? I will admit I sometimes forget the apply sanding sealer step but I have been very impressed with the grit. Seems to be much better than I can get with...

    Wooden clamp

Does anyone know a current place to buy these types of clamps. I am starting to look at making my own but these will easily take a couple of hours, not be as good as I want, and cost £20 in bits. Not sure in my mind how to make the threaded rod stay in place. Have already given up on the...

    CBN wheels

Thanks Paul. Which CBN grit did you go for. Without much thought i would pick the standard grit. Also is there much benefit to getting the face coat as well. Not sure where that would be used. Like the tip about the Ruby wheel. may try and push to get one of those as well. Especially as one is...

    CBN wheels

Could anyone recommend a CBN wheel that would fit http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-trade-series-at8srg2-slow-running-grinder-505195 I am just about to upgrade my knackered 6" and want to also get one CDN, only to realise the one Axminster sell is only a 6" CBN wheel.
