It’s always a judgment call with anything that lives outside exposed to all Mother Nature has to offer and of course we are all limited by the funds we have available- I hate paint myself so I’d always prefer to see the wood but lots of different products available and lots of advise on this...

How to drill into a concrete lintel?

To be honest I’m not surprised as there are not many materials that can get a masonry drill bit hot enough to melt the brazing so the tct just falls of..

    God Bless !!

Absolutely, I’ve always been sceptical of the so called previous winners- and who of a certain age will ever forget those immortal words “ come and have a look at what you could of won” a speedboat when you don’t own a car and live in the middle of Birmingham- priceless..😅😂😅

Donate or don’t donate it’s not and shouldn’t be an issue . I donate because I gain valuable information on many topics and the amount is quite small in comparison to the knowledge I gain in return . When I visit my local Sainsbury’s to do a shop I walk straight past the hoardes of offers near...

    Anti slip finish for decking

Try the search function - I seem to recall a similar post last year and the consensus was you pay a fortune for paint with added sand and I think a few had actually added their own sand to a particular paint but I can’t remember the thread title..

I went to bed last night thinking along the same lines . Varnish is difficult to see in certain light conditions and did wander if the various had been missed in a few places and as per your post it was then getting in behind the varnish and becoming trapped. Agree with sanding it back and...

How to drill into a concrete lintel?

Sounds like a complete nightmare- clearly our ancient ancestors had the right idea when using flint to make cutting tools , arrow heads etc . I guess your house is not going to fall down anytime soon ..

Imo only to sand back the affected areas and re-varnish. Try to pick a dry day but not an excessively hot day , don’t rush , and don’t apply to thickly and try not to over brush it . Assuming its oil based and not this quick dry stuff you will only get 1 coat per day so take your time . If the...

    Organisation and workflow

We just have to remind ourselves that things will go wrong from time to time - a bad day / week / month but the tide will eventually turn and things get better . Just think about something else and concentrate on that , I managed to get that twin bath levelled and connected with no leaks and all...

Could simply be resin from the pine that’s reacted with the varnish, also how hot was it when you varnished it as extreme heat could cause it to dry too quickly. Tbh most of it looks ok . Are the bad bits in direct sun.. i have some planters that had the same varnish and some parts look similar...

How to drill into a concrete lintel?

Many years ago I worked in London, Surrey east and West Sussex-I came across a wall that that I couldn’t drill . I had an aeg battery drill and a 1400 watt core drill ( the hammer mode was percussion) only drilling a 6 mm hole but the drill bit would just get orange hot until the tip would just...
