I have been working on this Yew bowl for the last couple of days really enjoyed doing this one. It measures 13" X 8 1/2" X 3 1/2", I have just counted my fingers and they are all still there.

That's a beauty Derek, the shallow form accentuates the variation in wood growth colours really well.

Does get a bit nerve wracking getting up close an personal with wide wings like that.

This was the piece I mentioned that seemed very hard plenty of resharpening and little cuts then i changed to my TC cutter to get the bulk out and then back to the bowl gouge. Kept the hand behind the tool rest at all times
 
Hi. The bowl looks fantastic.
What finish have you used to get such a high gloss
Have you treated teh timber with PEG to stop shrinkage cracks
