Obtained a quantity of pallets made from this, all in good condition, very clean and used for machine delivery only.

I am not good at identifying timber, can anybody suggest from the photo if possible what timber this is please, it is very heavy so assume it is a hard wood.

Thank you

I hesitate to post on a wood id thread....Im probably wrong. But that looks a lot like keruing to me. The colour looks pretty similar, its hard and heavy and has a lot of silica in it which would explain the streaking to the right. Does it splinter magnificently on the edges and change grain with no warning in pattern? It's what Im making the ever lasting bench build from. Widely sold as hardwood for building. Some lengths I got are as light and easy to plane as pine, some are 6 times the weight and tearout with no grain warning. Just rip horribly. A few I cant even get the plane to touch. Just like trying to plane iron.
