Kindle fire not switching on

Pretty sure the switch is shot it as the 20 second trick is not working.
Will come on if plugged in and then stay on if power removed.
Any work arounds as it's 100% otherwise?

My Kindle cover has a magnet - so it wakes up when the cover opens... never use the switch....

I would contact Amazon , their customer service is very good.
