Hi folks. I am new to scrollsawing and to this forum. I live in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. Can anyone give me some advice as to the best types of wood for scroll saw projects and where I can source these from at reasonable prices. Thanks.

Hi there

I am in Tyrone and I am struggling with this too. I want good quality hard wood to work with but struggle to find anyone that can supply. Any help would be appreciated!

Not having really used a scroll saw to created anything spectacular, but I would say any fine grained wood. It does depend on how fine the patterns you are cutting, but as I mainly wood turner I would say Lime, Sycamore, Walnut to name a few. If you are new to it why not start with 3mm Plywood, I'd stay clear of MDF as the dust is really not nice.
