I recently acquired a pre-loved table saw. It's in fairly good condition. My only gripe being the condition of the bed and extension wings.
It's a portable one so has a steel painted bed as opposed to a cast one.

Im thinking of taking it back to the metal to remove the flaking/chipped paint and a few patches of surface rust and re-painting.

Any suggestion on a paint to use as its obviously got to be fairly resistant to wear whilst being as smooth/friction free as possible?

I came across Rustoleum Combi Colour last year and have been very impressed with it. Has rust corrosion built in and can be brushed or rollered on. I have had lovely smooth results with both methods. You can also get it mixed to many different colours.

Hammerite paint is good. I've recently re painted my lathe using that.
I was going to suggest Smoothrite rather than Hammerite but it's supposedly not as good as it used to be since the makers were taken over by Dulux according to some internet sources. It used to be excellent though.
