'Let's not just leave music in the hand of the 'experts'!' - so true!

My wife is laid up in bed for a month or so because of a sprained ankle. I've gone and invested in one of these comforters here so she is all cosy but she still isn't looking forward to the prospect of being cooped up for the next four weeks - and in summer too! Well, she loves vegetables and she loves music (perhaps the only two things she does love, the grumpy old bint - heehee  ), so maybe I will just leave her with a wheelbaroow of root vegetables and this video, and she can get to work on fashioning a little vegie-orchestra for us! haha

It's fairly easy to make a carrot whistle/ocarina including carving the mouth part from just a single carrot using a single twist drill bit and a knife.
I've never tried a sliding whistle but found this video http://vimeo.com/23924913

Having learned to make one from a carrot I've since made a few on the lathe and they work well :)
