I just saw an idea for small hinges that might be worth a go - epoxying tiny pieces of Tyvek. Put them in slightly over width, and trim very neatly with a scalpel after the glue has set. You can scrounge offcuts if you've a friend that's a roofer or builder. It's got to be worth a try.
