Can an acrylic lacquer be successfully applied as a clear coat over solvent based paintwork?
Like a dork I just ruined a piece by spraying a solvent based clear-coat and will have to start again.
Any advice gratefully recieved.

Provided it is fully cured with no solvent likely to come out through the water based.

Id try it first though!

I used Rustoleum Clear Coat on top of Rustoleum painters touch, dumbly assuming that because they are the same brand there would be compatibility. What I got was gloop - and the paint had had a week to cure!
What do the guitar boys use? What's the ultimate paint/clear coat combo.?
For now I'm going to try chestnut products lacquer over the rustoleum.
