One to sharpen yourself or hardpoint disposible?

For a sharpenable I'd be looking at an early S&J or a Disston (sp?)

Hardpoint? Normally I'd say Bahco 244 but I'm now leaning towards the S&J Predator range.

Crosscut, new, not overexpensive, hardened teeth? Stanley Fat Max

Rip cut? Buy an old one and a file.

Cheers
Pedder

I started with learning to sharpen with scabby second hand spear and Jackson's a few quid from the car boots, never managed to get my hands on a disston, I like the orange jack points for a disposable one

Could I add a question -

How about for cutting rough old construction timber for firewood, plus the odd bit of hardwood?

Longevity is a top priority

Thanks in advance

Greg

Can any one recommend me a hand panel saw?

Thanks

I see you are in M M. Decide what you want from advice here and I'll look through my stash .

I' m pretty sure I could sort you out with one
Pm me an address and I will drop it off sometime in the next two weeks

I looked for a long time on Ebay but never found one that was both in good condition and the price was attractive. (Living in Canada, the shipping tends to be very high from the US, or US sellers just flat-out refuse to ship here, and I haven't found any locally.)

In the end I bought a Lie Nielsen rip saw when I was down at their HQ for the weekend. Yes it's expensive but it's a joy to use.
