i'm looking to get a new cheap(ish) router - budget £140 ish and have been looking at the following machines:

Draper expert 1350w 1/2" £140ish
http://www.drapertools.com/b2c/b2citmdsp.pgm?pp_skmno=45368&ipadd=

Makita RP0900X 1/4" 3/8" £130ish
http://www.makitauk.com/product/woodworking/routers/rp0900x-14-or-38-plunge-router.html

Screwfix - Erbauer ERB380ROU 2100W Router 230-240V £99.99 1/2"
http://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-erb380rou-2100w-router-230-240v/81664?cm_Tools-_-Routers-_-81664

Looked at the Triton 1400W MOF001, but put off my the lack of a 1/2" collet - a couple of amazon reviews mention http://www.amazon.co.uk/Triton-330085-Precision-Plunge-MOF001/dp/B002QS1LPM/ref=pd_cp_diy_0

I'm thinking the Draper may be best, round base, easy to fit to a table

Any advice? (I want to get a new machine rather than SH from ebay or similar). I'm not router worktop or similar so a smaller machine should be OK?
I need one for construction of TV unit, shoe rack(!), fitting a record vice and generally just learning!

Thanks!

this is a router. bought one at a car boot sale £7.50

I have the older version of the Erbauer constantly mounted in a table, it runs great.

Wizard great buy for £7.50, i've picked up a few car boot bargains but car boots are a bit thin on the ground this time of year and really I want to get a new machine.

carlb40 - thanks for the ebay link, great price the Tritions seem to be well regarded on here

n0legs - good to know the erbauers are good, i've had one of their circular saws for five+ years and its been great - just no chance of any spare parts

You can buy the 1/2 inch collet as an add on.

In my opinion, they should come supplied with the 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch collet as standard.

Lovely machine though (Triton)

yes they should ship with both 1/2" and 1/4", it looks like the amazon stock is US stock, and the other ebay sellers seem to have the 1/2" included.

Anyhow a little more than I wanted to spend, so still unsure what to get, if anyone has any other views it would be great to hear them!

I have a Triton 1400w with 6mm,1/4", 8mm, 12mm and 1/2" collet assemblies. It mounts beneath a table beautifully, height adjustment is from above (or beneath) the shaft locks automatically at full extension (which is very high in the table giving excellent access) and is a one hand/one spanner cutter change.
