Bosch Mitre Saw either the GCM 8 or the GCM 10

I am thinking of buying the Bosch Mitre Saw either the GCM 8 or the GCM 10

The GCM 10 will give me the 80mm depth of cut I need, however, I have a specialist 180mm * 30mm bore blade.

The question I have is, will the 180mm blade be Ok on the GCM 10?

I have tried unsuccessfully to log onto the Bosch forum to ask the question but it seems broken at the moment.

I own a GCM800S and its 216mm blade plunges about 11mm past the slot in the base. With your special 180mm blade fitted it wouldn't be able to cut to its full capacity (216-180=36. ÷2=18. -11=7mm)

Assuming the 250mm saw plunges to a similar depth into the slot it would cut 24mm short.

There's no reason why the blade wouldn't work with either saw, providing you don't need the full cutting depth. You could pack out the base with a piece of MDF to essentially close the gap, but that sounds like a lot of hassel to me.

I want to cust slots 2mm deep, in stock that would approximately 10mm deep. Based on what you say it would still have to be packed out which is what I thought. I'll take the blade with me to a local Axminster store and check it out

I have recently bought the Bosch GCM10 from Axminster and I've got to say, it blooming brilliant!
It really shows up just how much better a proper professional level machine is against the diy/hobby grade tosh I had before from Scheppach.
The only criticisms I have is the lack of a laser and that like all SCMSs the dust collection is utter carp.

Anyways, back on point. In answer to your actual question I would just block up the work piece to allow the reduced diameter blade to fully cut through it. This would likely result in a cleaner cut and provide you a nice reference line for more accurate cuts anyway.
