Cutting a slab of cheery wood has buggered by blade

Quick Question...

I am cutting slabs of cherry wood on my table saw and noticed that it has fair taken its toll on my blafe..

I have a freud 254mm 40 tooth blade....

Should i be using a different blade for these kinds of slabs? The slabs are about 50mm thick..

Hello,

Yes, the 40 tooth is OK for rough crosscutting, but ripping 2 inch thick stuff, you need a dedicated rip blade. Ripping as you are will generate lots of heat and needs a slow feed fate. cherry is a pipper for burning with slow feed rates.
