Okay so mixed reviews, that's fine - we can work on that. The idea for the register banner at the top is just to try and encourage visitors to sign up. I did try it on different resolutions and thought it didn't look too bad although admittedly I don't spend a lot of time browsing the forums and I assumed that the majority of members sign in every time but looks like that's not the case. Hopefully you've notice that I've downsized the banner although it may be that it hasn't made much, if any difference? Obviously I want to make the forums as user-friendly as possible so if it proves the banner at the top is doing more harm then good, it will go.

The only problem with putting the login box at the top is it'll take up even more space. There is a "log in" link at the top in the header which takes you to the login page.

Charley - I like the new look, but I have an issue viewing the site on my iPhone. The different section headings come up in wildly different font sizes. Is that just me?

Also - like many others I suspect - I don't log in each time, I ticked the 'always remember ' box.

I actually spotted that at the weekend on my iPhone as well. It's strange as the font headings share the same style class so should all be the same size. I'll have to try and find out what's causing it.

My iPhone had mixed size text but it seemed to optimise the size to try and display as much text as possible whilst retaining legibility. Aesthetics aside it is functionally a good thing. (that's all assuming what I'm seeing is the same as you)

yes the slightly smaller logo helps. If you want the forum to be user friendly then you need make it as minimalist as possible. I think the large bubbly look is very dated and makes it look like something you'd find ont he Cbeebies website.

In which case I like it. It's perhaps a little too minimalist. But I am a firm believer in less is more.

How about shoving the red tabs over to the RHS, then the logo can bump up a level, leaving more screen room for thread text etc (that's what we are really here for after all).

I'd like to see them much smaller with slightly smaller text. The colour scheme is ok but I think the main problem is that everything above the bread crumb is too big\tall.

Was that relatively speaking?

It's the best forum software I've ever come across. Dead simple, not only the design but also the functionality. It does everything you need a forum to do without having to press buttons to get there. More or less it shows the most recent and/or updated threads in the order they were updated whenever you visit.
