I finally got the poppy plaques finished. I must remember not to take on commissions like this again. They are 22 inches long by 10 inches wide. I cut all my plaques on the scroll saw but the Hegner only has an 18 inch throat. I tried coming in from both ends but the start of the cut is so far away it was difficult to see the line. I thought of using my cross cut saw, again it would have meant coming in from both ends as it only cross cuts 13 inches. In the end i had a friend cut the plaques on his table saw. They are made from red oak and for a customer who works for "Help for Heroes."

Nice job Geoff. They look great.

Please forgive my ignorance, I know very little about scrollsawing, but could you not have used a spiral blade and cut 'off angle' but in line? I recently saw a video of this and it could get round the throat problem on occassions?

That's worked a treat Geoff and I'm sure your customer will love them
Cheers
Brian
