Just to let you know that I'll not be able to respond to motor questions between the above dates.

I'll be taking a holiday in Cyprus and my laptop is staying at home! Confused
How will I cope?

I think I'm up to date with all the queries so far and there are a few days left.
If you have been waiting for a reply then please remind me asap.

By all means keep sending the queries but don't necessarily expect a rapid response until I'm back home.

Bob

Enjoy Bob - whereabouts in Cyprus are you going? We got married in Paphos 9 years ago. We're going to take the kids there next year.

Cheers

Thanks Karl,

We are staying just north of Paphos at the end of the Tombs of the Kings road. The new partner of the husband of the sister (deceased) of an old school friend has an apartment there. So we don't know her at all!!

I'm trying to get the hang of this retirement business - I can go on holiday just anytime I want. Laughing

Bob

My Mum retired a couple of years ago. She's a good ten years off retirement age but her partner is, so they both retired. It's sickening.
They're never in this country! I find it rude and insulting, both flaunting their suntans and not being on hand when we need baby sitters! Cheek! Wink Laughing

Have a good time Bob. Will be good to re-energise those batteries.

Cheers Tom,

It will give me time to think through some ideas for projects for when I get home.

Enjoy Paphos, it's a great place to chill out.
There's a good italian restaurant on the main street of Coral Bay if you have a car. Smile

Have a good break Bob, make sure you see the Tombs and the mosaics...unbelievable! It's worth having a drive up North to Polis and then onto the Akamas peninsula (4WD motor needed though) The Northern coast is almost deserted (in comparison to the South) so you ought to find beaches that are totally empty...we did last year. Account here if of any interest - Rob

That's the "road" past Turtle Beach, isn't it Rob????

We had mucho fun driving up that track, with me never having driven "off road" before. We got to Turtle Beach to find out there were no turtles - they're only there for 2 weeks of the year for breeding! Bloody con if you ask me..... Embarassed

Great place Cyprus.

Cheers

Hi Karl - we tried to find the turtles (...SWIMBO and wildlife Rolling Eyes ) but they weren't there either. If you keep on driving North you come to the Akamas and then if you veer east there's the small town of Polis (where we stayed) If you keep on traveling east from Polis up the coast road you eventually come to the Northern end of the Turkish zone where there's a small enclave that you need to drive round. The northern part of the island up there is comparativley deserted with loads of completely empty beaches and coves (and this was in September last year) - Rob

Bob

I lived in Cyprus for 9 years (on and off). If theres one bit of advice I can offer.........................

Stay off the Kokkinelli - or at least mix it with lemonade.

Have a great time, I'm not jealous at all Evil or Very Mad

Have a nice time Bob

There used to be some nice restaurants in Polis and in the small villages "in the mountains" on the way there - at least there was 6 years ago? Smile

Thanks Vinny. That sounds like very good advice. After googling for info,
one link suggesting it was a good substitute for carburettor cleaner as well as other close to death experiences!!

Rob: We do have a car there but only small hatch of some description so not suitable for off roading. This holiday is a bit of a recce for future breaks when we can be more prepared. SWMBO can't walk very far especially on rough or non horizontal terrain so I need to keep that in mind.

Lons: We love eyetye restaurants so will keep a look out for that one.

Thanks for all the tips guys!

Bob

Thanks for asking Dibs.

The apartment was superb and the weather warm and sunny all week.
Trouble was we both got stinking colds just before going and SWMBO ended up with a chest infection and could not walk for more than a few 10s of metres before getting out of breath.
She is now on the antibiotics and I've copped for all the washing and ironing post holiday! Domestic bliss Crying or Very sad

It was a good break but now I can get back into the workshop doing what I enjoy most!

Bob
