Somewhere on here i recently posted about my 351 startrite that was on wheels, basically i caught the trailing lead & plug on the bumper of my pickup & towed it over with a mighty crash. Did a fair bit of damage. That had castors 3" out from the bottom of the casing & it was still unstable.
 
No worries, when I saw your post I did think “I have just done exactly this!” :D

In reality the wheels don’t stick out much further than the table / fence supports so the wheels don’t get in the way at all. This is the second mobile base I’ve made to the design (which I can’t claim ownership to - I modified it off a Peter parfitt video) and they’re both brilliant. The struts are ash and the base is 18mm birch ply.

One thing I have learnt, is not to go for cheap castors (especially on a heavier machine). I bought these from Ross castors; not the cheapest but great quality.

Ps. This machine can’t topple. I even did a simulated-cord-snag-test!
