Hi all

I recently purchased a Drummond treadle lathe.

It's in good condition - over one hundred years old. It's designed for metal work, but I plan to used it for woodworking.

I need to make a tool rest for woodturning chisels.

Does anyone have any experience of using Drummond lathes?

Thanks

Martin

Have you got a photo? Here's mine; it's not a Drummond but it is treadle powered:

Used to have an absolutely superb flat bed Drummond, which came with an original woodturning rest, though as also had an old Coronet wood lathe, I never used it for woodturning. It had been converted to electric motor but the tray and (shapely, but really heavy!) cast iron legs had all the holes for treadle mechanism. Everything was really tight and smooth, so I suspect it had only had limitied amateur use. It finally had to go (at a small profit) when a very reasonably priced Super 7 came up, but was an absolute joy to use.
Sadly, no pictures of it.
