Motor upgrade

I've been looking at upgrading my Axminster AWVSL900 lathe to something with more power but I'm happy with the lathe in general. It's always bolted down so I have no problem with it jumping around, I just need more grunt. I was thinking maybe upgrading the motor to a 1 1/2 hp newton tesla 3 phase variable speed motor upgrade.
Any thoughts ? Anyone done this ? How easy is the upgrade ?

I cant see that lathe on axi’s site
Have you a link to that lathe? What sort of speed control does it have at the mo?
If it has reeves type pulleys they wont be happy with more power put through them
