Lidl Track Saw

Bought this ages ago and have only just had a chance to use it. Seems to work really well, very nice cuts. My only issue with it is that the track doesn't seem to grip very well to the surface below (plywood in my case), and as I was using it, it slipped. I suspect that this is caused by the fact I'm sitting down (wheelchair) and so no force is being applied downwards, where as an able bodied person would be putting force down due to their height above the saw.

Anyway - so now I'm looking to pick up some cheap clamps. I hear the Festool ones work, but at £80 for 2, thats out of my budget.

I've come across these from SCHEPPACH. Are they any good?

I got some, what I thought were good quality ratchet clamps from Aldi or Lidl. Made in China but on them have tested and certified in Germany. I thought very well made handle well and feel very robust and will last. I asked Aldi for clamping spec, quite high. £4.99 for a set of two. If look on sites should see them. If one branch is out of stock another close by branch might have, ask them to check.

Although iirc if the track takes a festool clamp, it'll take dewalt and makita ones too.
And I believe I saw a guide or video somewhere about modding another clamp ot work too but I'm affraid I cant recall where I saw that.

you could think about giving the track more grip, a lot of people who make there own put sandpaper on the underside, personally I reckon skateboard grip tape would be an ideal solution. or a bead of rubber might help too.

That might be right actually, based on when the threads crop up on here.

You could also try the Titan from screwfix.

I got the festool screw type clamps from FFX through ebay, if I recall I paid about £15 delivered for a pair of 150mm size, work great for me. I agree that your problem is likely because you are sitting rather than the tracks but I always clamp mine anyway, it only takes a few seconds and I feel much safer and accurate doing so.

You could also try the Titan from screwfix.

Not saying that the Titan saw is no good but Screwfix's customer service is cr*p. I have a Titan belt and disc sander and when the drive belt disintegrated I contacted their customer service for information on spares availability or for the size of belt. The response was "We don't carry spares and don't know the size of the belt. They are made in the far east."

I suggested that they ask their purchasing department to ask the question of their supplier. She agreed that it was good idea but it is now over a month ago. I managed to find a suitable belt by trial and error. There is no lateral adjustment on either pulley, only axial for the motor pulley. I had to loosen everything and shuffle it back into position.

The titan is the same as the triton and very similar to the makita

I recommend this one its the same as the titan/triton but comes with 1m of track

Then just get a 1.5m length of triton track for around £35 and you are good to go for sheet goods.

The triton clamps are similar to the dewalt but much cheaper

Old-ish thread, I know, but having only now got round to seriously using my secondhand Lidl tracksaw, it's become relevant and it didn't seem worth starting a new thread. Solved the clamping problemn even cheaper with some pieces of C-shaped steel channel and a bit of welding, which has worked fine. What I now wonder is whether there is any other source of track that the Lidl saw would fit and doesn't cost more than the saw per piece. A piece of about 1m length would greatly increase the versatility of what is a more-than-adequate piece of kit but not at the prices that seem prevalent.

Lild saws fit perfectly on the festool tracks, when there are sales on they can be had for a pretty good price, I bought a 1.4m track for under £40 I think.
