I found a piece of dirty old wood buried under a pile of rubble in the garden so, not being one to throw anything away I hacked away a it and lo and behold this was inside.

Unknown wood, bowl is 5" dia, 2" deep, rest of it varies from10" - 8" across.

Comments, critique etc all welcome as always

Pete, good use of a good find.
I have a rootball too, a maple rootball, many times bigger than I can handle on my lathe. Will be a tough job to cut it, as there is a lot of rock hard river clay and stones between the roots.
Have to find a way to chop it in pieces, maybe using an ax, don't like it to destroy a chainsaw

Glad you have managed to get a 'Fix' into the production run Pete, that's a really interesting piece, looks like it will be an object of 'pick up and peruse' for some time to come whoever receives it.
