    Wadkin FM24” Planer Restoration

In my 2 car garage... Nah. I turned one down at $200 (~100UKP) about 5 years ago. They're just too big for me. I have a little Tanner thicknesser (a New Zealand brand) 12 1/2" x 5 1/2" capacity with 3hp 3-phase motor. Cheers, Vann.

New member and a Wadkin planer

Hi. Nice machine. The smallest of Wadkin's 'big boys'. I have two, in various states of disrepair. The nearer one is RB 116, manufactured in October, 1926. It's an early one (from the very first batch) and was made without a stand and with shorter tables (3' 9" - vrs 5' on later machines...

    Wadkin FM24” Planer Restoration

Oh no, it's off a Wadkin RD surface planer It won't work on your FM. Just send it to me, I can make good use of it. Actually, it was first designed for the RD, but also used on RM planer/thicknessers, the last couple of batches of RB 9" surface planers, RZ surface planers, and of course your...

Wadkin Lathe RS - Banjo Attachment... Dismantling

I can only suggest the banjo handle may have been pulled so tight that it's moved slightly on the shaft and formed a step in the pin. As the handle can be tightened both clockwise and anti-clockwise, it's impossible to know which way the step might be. I suggest you just keep at it - making...

Wadkin Lathe RS - Banjo Attachment... Dismantling

I can't see from your first photo, just where that pin is. But to take it apart you need to remove the pin just visible to the right in the second picture. The pin is a tapered pin, so it only comes out one way. You need to establish which end is the smaller diameter and punch it out from that...

Can anybody beat this for old equipment

Wallace no longer maintains his website, but we can now confirm that your father's lathe dates to 1935. Cheers, Vann.

Can anybody beat this for old equipment

It's only a pup, Doug ;). It's a Wadkin-Bursgreen and they didn't come into existence until ~1956 - so it's not even 70 years old. It looks similar to a mate's Wadkin RZ - and that's a very nice machine. Cheers, Vann.
